NC State 2017 Emerging Scholars Academy- April 1 Deadline
The Emerging Scholars Academy is a six-day residential academic enrichment program located on the NC State University campus. This program is designed for high school students who have a strong interest and appreciation for the African American experience and culture. Students chosen as Emerging Scholars will:
experience university campus life
attend classes taught by university professors
discuss cultural identity and concerns for African American students
participate in college preparation activities
Emerging Scholars Academy is offered at no cost, but those selected will pay a $10 participation fee to cover program materials. Who can apply? The NC State Emerging Scholars Academy is for:
Rising juniors in high school
Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher OR in the top 10% of the class
Are interested in African American topics
Are a leader in school, family or community activities
The application deadline is April 15th. Selected participants will be notified by May 1.
