NC State 2017 Emerging Scholars Academy- April 1 Deadline

The Emerging Scholars Academy is a six-day residential academic enrichment program located on the NC State University campus. This program is designed for high school students who have a strong interest and appreciation for the African American experience and culture. Students chosen as Emerging Scholars will:

  • experience university campus life

  • attend classes taught by university professors

  • discuss cultural identity and concerns for African American students

  • participate in college preparation activities

Emerging Scholars Academy is offered at no cost, but those selected will pay a $10 participation fee to cover program materials. Who can apply? The NC State Emerging Scholars Academy is for:

  • Rising juniors in high school

  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher OR in the top 10% of the class

  • Are interested in African American topics

  • Are a leader in school, family or community activities

The application deadline is April 15th. Selected participants will be notified by May 1.
